Tripura Elections: BJP Releases Vision Document, Promises Free Smartphones And SEZs

Jaitley said PM Modi wants the country to develop, which is why the BJP in Tripura has focused more on development issues in its vision document.

"BJP had little base in Manipur and Assam, but we came to power there".

BJP president Amit Shah on Sunday asked the people to oust Tripura's "Lal bhai" government, as he accused the Left cadres of pocketing public funds meant for development and promised to make the state a model one if his party is voted to power.

"As per the joint statement for alliance between BJP and IPFT (NC Debbarma faction of Indigenous Nationalist Party of Twipra), we are committed to ensuring socio-economic, linguistic and cultural development of indigenous people of Tripura", Union finance minister Arun Jaitley told reporters after releasing the BJP's "Vision Document" for the state. Shah said the government's inefficiency forced the state to remain backward.

To a query on BJP president Amit Shah's allegation that the Congress was helping the CPM by dividing the anti-Left votes, he said it was the other way around. The document was released by Senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley in Agartala.

Tripura will be voting into power its ruling party in less than a week. He said a degree college would be set up in each constituency of the state to upgrade the education system.

The voting for the 60 member assembly will be held on 18th of this month and counting will take place on 3rd March.

He noted that while the BJP leaders are saying that they are not supporting the separate state demand but their ally IPFT has all along being campaigning in its favour, without any objection from them.

The vision document promises sector wise development plan of BJP including connectivity, mobility, urban amenities, natural resource management, combating environment pollution, infrastructure development, to bring investment in industry sector to increase employment opportunity and to fill up more than 50,000 vacant posts in the state government. "And I can assure that now it's the turn of Tripura to see a change soon with a BJP government", said Shah, while addressing mediapersons in Agartala.

The Left Front has been ruling the state for almost 25 years continuously but Tripura lags behind in distribution of drinking water to households, healthcare services, power supply, infrastructure and attracting investments, he said.
