HMD Global releases Android 8.1 update for Nokia 8

HMD Global releases Android 8.1 update for Nokia 8

Before proceeding to download Android 8.1 Oreo update for the Nokia 8, you need to activate Wi-Fi because the total capacity of the update is almost 1.5GB.

The update weighs in at 1.5GB for the handset and comes with the latest February security patch. Apart from the highly anticipated Penta-lens concept phone, the company is expected to launch the Nokia 1 and Nokia 7 Plus. Having said that, as HMD Global is yet to announce anything officially, it is advisable to wait till the announcements at MWC 2018. The Nokia 1, on the other hand, is an entry-level smartphone that's powered by Android Oreo (Go Edition). As per the latest Android distribution chart, only 0.3 per cent of all active Android smartphones have received the update. And in the last week of January, HMD Global rolled out a beta version of the Android 8.1 Oreo to the Nokia 8. Android 8.0 Oreo doesn't look that great as well as it accounts for only 0.8 per cent of all active devices.

The promotion will see the Nokia 8 retail for $599 rather than the usual $899 - a discount of about 30%. The global variant of the smartphone is said to use the same Snapdragon 630 chipset but is likely to arrive with 3GB RAM and called Nokia 6.1. The Nokia 8 is backed by a 3,090mAh battery and supports Qualcomm's Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging.

Xiaomi Launches Redmi Note 5 And Redmi Note 5 Pro In India
Under the hood, Redmi Note 5 Pro will make use of a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 which is an octa-core processor clocked at 1.8GHz. On the front, it bears a 5-megapixel sensor complete with an LED selfie-light module and Beautify 3.0 beautification tech.

HMD Global has already scheduled its launch event on February 25th, just ahead of MWC 2018 event which will be held from February 26 to March 01 this year. Nokia 6 (2018) comes with dual view mode which will allow you to capture feeds from both front and rear camera at the same time.

While many speculate that this is the Nokia 9, the probability of the Nokia 7 Plus launching before the 9 are higher, hence, it could be an HMD Global employee testing the Nokia 7 Plus.
