Toys 'R' Us Going-Out-Of-Business Sales Could Start Today

Toys 'R' Us Going-Out-Of-Business Sales Could Start Today

Select Toys "R" Us stores across the United States began offering sales Wednesday amid the liquidation of over 140 stores. Stores in Alpharetta, Dunwoody, Lithonia and Douglasville are Babies R Us. Toys "R" Us announced plans to close the stores last month, including some in the Bay Area.

NJ.com reported that Toys R Us laid off about 15 percent of its headquarter staff in Wayne, New Jersey past year. Liquidation sales for those locations begin Wednesday.

"The reinvention of our brand requires that me make some tough decisions about our priority and focus", Dave Brandon, chief executive officer and chairman, said in a Toys R Us statement.

Bermuda becomes the first country to repeal same-sex marriage
Human Rights Campaign - which works to improve the lives of LGBTQ people worldwide - has condemned the move as "shameful". Same-sex couples who married before the bill was revoked will not have their marital status annulled.

A release from the company says that opening discounts will begin at 30 percent off, adding that "deep discounts" will come later. Gift cards and other customer programs and specials will continue to be honored at the closing locations, the release said.

As for the stores that are closing, documents show the closures still need federal bankruptcy court approval, but management is planning to shut those locations beginning in early February and running through mid-April, according to a report from CNBC.
