Lakers Acquire Isaiah Thomas From Cavs

Moments after reportedly being traded to the Los Angeles Lakers, Channing Frye shared a final farewell with Cleveland Cavaliers fans - as only he can. They were not expected to do so.

Former Celtics star Isaiah Thomas has been traded for the second time in less than a year.

The first trade domino fell on Thursday when the Cleveland Cavaliers sent Isaiah Thomas to the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for Jordan Clarkson and Larry Nance Jr. The Cavs get Jordan Clarkson and Larry Nance in return.

Cleveland acquired Thomas from the Boston Celtics in a trade involving All-Star Kyrie Irving.

That hip injury kept Thomas out until January and contributed to a rocky five-week stint with the Cavaliers.

Critics also say that such a limited attack scheme may not work when handling an increasingly unpredictable and provocative Pyongyang.

Thomas will be an unrestricted free agent this summer, and it will be interesting to see how much money he commands and where he ends up.

Recent reports about the team not getting along could be a factor. But that can be hard to do so. Maybe then the Cavs can get back to playing quality basketball. "You play for a team, you get traded, you get a tribute video". Or maybe, he simply doesn't like him. After James hit a buzzer-beating jumper to beat Minnesota in overtime on Wednesday night, Thomas stood at his locker and wondered if he would be on the move again. He said he liked being in Cleveland and believes in the team.

It appears that the only constant for Thomas is change.

Thomas has a chance to show Rob Pelinka and Magic Johnson that he's comfortable in the LA spotlight, and that he's a good soldier who will align his priorities with the team's priorities. The Lakers now have the number one pick to make cap space or make another blockbuster trade. I'm not saying they can leapfrog three teams to make the playoffs, but the teams ahead of them are not in the best shape, which opens the door slightly for the Lakers to make a run when Lonzo Ball comes back. Not everyone is going to get along all of the time - everyone has a coworker that drives them insane.
