Imran Khan lauds KPK police performance in Asma Murder Case

Mardan Regional Police Officer Dr Mian Saeed said the suspected killer, identified as 15-year-old Muhammad Nabi, had confessed to the crime.

The police high ups confirmed arresting of two accused during a press conference at Peshawar on Wednesday morning.

Asma was found dumped in a sugarcane field near her house in Mardan on January 14 after she went missing earlier while she was playing outside her house located in Gujjar Garhi area of Mardan.

The IG said there was neither CCTV footage, nor any witness nor any suspect that could have helped police arrest the suspects. Later her dead body was found in a sugarcane field a day after.

Mardan talking to media said that the Punjab government informed on Tuesday that two DNAs matched the samples taken from the body of the minor girl, Asma.

The RPO said that fingerprint traces of the suspect were found on the neck of the deceased, and the weapon used for the crime has also been recovered.

According to Punjab government, the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) government sent 145 samples of DNA to be matched. One of these people's DNA sample has matched the DNA remains from the deceased minor.

He said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan should thank Punjab chief minister (CM) Shehbaz Sharif and PFSA Director General (DG).

The man was subsequently caught by neighbours and handed over to the police.

In a message, he stated, "Commendable work by the professional KP police force".
