PS4 Firmware Update 5.50's New Features Revealed

PS4 Firmware Update 5.50's New Features Revealed

Other features coming along with this update include enhancements to the Quick Menu, notifications, and new customization options for Tournaments team pages. The child will receive notifications telling them when the time is about to expire so they can save and quit their game. This allows you to track time played and set daily time limits, even from a PC or smartphone.

Notifications via Play Time Management will be sent when time is ticking down, and account managers can choose to automatically log the account out once the playtime is over. You can check your child's playtime from the Settings Menu, or through your PlayStation account on a web browser.

Two new tabs have been added to the library to make navigation easier. "This PS4" will show only the applications that are now installed on your system - as in, the ones that you'll actually be interested in seeing 90 percent of the time - with further subdivisions for games and apps. This app will come with several audio EQ presets, which emphasize certain ranges of sound depending on what type of game you're playing. Games will soon be broken down via what is now installed on the system - labeled as "This PS4" in the library - and all of the items associated with your account via an option labeled with your name and avatar.

This update also adds a new PS Plus tab to the Library, which clarifies what games you own from PS Plus' Monthly Free Games. Side benefit: that way you can see at a glance what games you'll lose access to if your PS Plus subscription ends, which is both practical and a clever little way for Sony to say "you sure you wanna cancel that sub?"

The Friends tab in the Quick Menu now lets you quickly access specific friends, and it'll also show which of them are online.

If you're using Spotify on PlayStation Music, the "square" button will serve as the shortcut for volume control. This also works when you're playing music off a USB device.

Upcoming Update Features PS4 Supersampling Mode

The Library also includes a PS Plus tab, which shows your available games.

Go to Notifications, press "triangle" or "Options" to open a meny that will allow you to delete a single notification or multiple notifications. Images can be zoomed and cropped to get them looking just right.

Just hop into the system settings menu to activate it and you should be good to go.

Import Custom Wallpapers via USB: Users can now import images and use them as their background wallpaper.

Events Teams select your team Edit Team Profile.

As covered earlier, PS4 Pro supersampling is now also supported via the new firmware. Games that render at a higher resolution on 4K TVs will downscale to match the HDTV. The mode gives PS4 Pro owners who don't own a 4K display the option to enjoy an enhanced visual experience. Sony notes that not all games will get better image quality when Supersampling Mode is enabled.

Arsenal Goalkeeper Petr Cech subbed off during win against Everton
The 35-year-old Cech has been typically durable this season so far and has played in all 26 of Arsenal's Premier League fixtures. Arsenal thrashed Everton 5-1 on Saturday, as Aaron Ramsey grabbed a hat-trick and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored on his debut.
