HTC U12 appeared at Taiwan, showing its LTE

A new HTC smartphone was showcased at Taiwan 5G Industry Alliance last week, and it is likely the Taiwanese company's next flagship smartphone, the HTC U12.

Taiwanese smartphone giant HTC has unveiled a smartphone which is capable of clocking download speeds in excess of 800 Mbps.

Aside from the HTC U12, HTC also showcased the HTC Vive PRO in 2018 and the HTC Vive Focus at the same event. However, that is going to change as the company's first smartphone to sport an edge-to-edge display has been announced.

HTC did not mention if the phone is the U12 but Evan Blass has mentioned on Twitter that the phone is the HTC U12, codename HTC Imagine. It's very hard to say anything about the design just by taking a look at the front.

USA says Syria may be developing new types of chemical weapons
On Thursday, the Trump administration accused Assad of producing and using "new kinds of weapons" to deliver deadly chemicals. The Syrian American Medical Society says its hospitals in the area treated 11 patients for chlorine gas poisoning.

Going by the looks, the display of the phone seems to be a 6-inch screen with thin bezels and curved display, similar to Samsung's Galaxy S8.

The smartphone was showcased at the 5G event so it is quite obvious that the phone will come with a 5G connectivity option, which translates to download speeds of 809.58Mbps, which is nearly 1 Gbps (GB-per-second). HTC revealed the U11 in May of 2017, so it's possible the company will show off this device around the same time. The HTC U12 is a direct follow-up to the U11 a year ago.

The company's officials have not made any official statement about the upcoming smartphone, so it's better to take this information which a pinch of salt.
