Brandon Browner Rips Patriots for Benching Malcolm Butler in Super Bowl 52

Brandon Browner Rips Patriots for Benching Malcolm Butler in Super Bowl 52

'It was a coach's decision.

Because Butler has been a mainstay on defense, Devin McCourty said "to not be out there I'm sure crushed him", McCourty told the Boston Herald.

"Why does everyone want me to retire so bad?" he said.

The 27-year-old, who is a pending free agent, was not happy to have spent the game on the sideline.

New England coach Bill Belichick told NBC at halftime only that he "made the decision that gives us the best chance to win". Just as he was getting up from his post-game podium Sunday night, I asked Fletcher Cox if the Eagles are still underdogs. "That's really all I can say about it". He also said Butler practiced as part of different packages during the week leading up to Super Bowl LII, making Belichick's decision even more baffling.

While Butler had an up and down season, he was nearly dealt for a first-round pick previous year. Before anyone signs him, however, it would be wise to know exactly what prompted the odd move that kept the Patriots from matching the Steelers with six Super Bowl wins. Solder was drafted by the Patriots in the first round of the 2011 draft out of the University of Colorado, and the 29-year-old started every game for New England this season. The former West Alabama standout was on the field for 97.8 percent of New England's defensive snaps. Butler missed last Monday's Super Bowl Opening Night in Minneapolis with the flu and arrived separately from the team.

'He's a very emotional guy.

The investment bank said Brent likely will average $75 a barrel over the next three months, up from an earlier forecast of $62. West Texas Intermediate futures contracts for March delivery settled 23 cents higher Wednesday to $64.73 per barrel.

Asked if Butler was held out because of disciplinary reasons, Belichick responded, "no".

'It is not often you go to the Super Bowl. "I feel for [Butler]". Browner played for the Patriots in 2014.

Whether it was due to this rumor, or whether he's heard some things personally, former Patriots cornerback Brandon Browner fueled the rumor with an Instagram post in which he said Butler isn't the first to be busted for weed or curfew violations. "You were hurt/burnt where he was needed tonight". Whatever the reasoning, the pending free agent is nearly certain to not return to New England, which begs the question, should the Raiders consider scooping Butler up? You feel me? I can't rock with that.

Now, both player and team will move in another direction.

Belichick did ultimately take the blame for his team's loss on Sunday.

"We put the best players out there and the game plan out there because we thought it'd be the best to win", Belichick said. "In the end, the final decision is what I said it was", Belichick replied on Monday. Disappointing, but I'm proud of the way our team competed'.
