3 booked for anti-Modi posters in Amethi

According to a local party worker Ram Kumar, the Congress leader regularly visits Amethi-his Lok Sabha constituency-and this is perhaps for the first time that he has offered prayers at the temple.

Members of the two parties clashed in the Gauriganj area, prompting the police to intervene and change the route of the cavalcade of Gandhi, whose security is handled by the SPG.

Some of the local BJP leaders raised objections to the poster as soon as it appeared.

Hitting out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Rahul Gandhi while addressing the public in Amethi had said that the work that Chinese government finishes in two days, Prime Minister Modi's government takes at least one year for the same work. "Former Congress president (Sonia Gandhi) had called Modiji "maut ka saudagar" (merchant of death)".

Supporters of the BJP and the Congress fought a pitched battle, forcing the local police and PAC constables to intervene.

The posters were seen near the Gauriganj railway station, and a case has been registered in this connection at the Gauriganj police station, Dubey said.

Taking a dig at the Congress chief, Sharma said that Rahul Gandhi was suffering from attention seeking disorder, and was disappointed by the continuous shrinking mandate and electoral defeats. From Salon, he will proceed to Amethi, and then go to Munshiganj guest house, senior UP Congress leader Akhilesh Singh said. Reports say, Rahul is trying his best to revive the Congress' prospect in UP and thus his visit to Amethi holds great meaning.

Rahul Gandhi arrived in his parliamentary constituency around noon and took part in a road show that will stop over at seven prominent points of Amethi. "People are looking forward to welcome him", Singh said.
