OR at No. 17 Arizona tops the Pac-12 this week

Meanwhile, Arizona is 3-0-1 ATS int heir last four games following an ATS loss and 5-1-1 ATS in their last seven versus the Pac-12.

Allonzo Trier scored 15 of his 21 points in the second half and No. 17 Arizona pulled away from a sluggish, close game in the final 7 1/2 minutes to beat Oregon State 62-53 on Thursday night.

The loss drops Oregon State to 2-2 in Pac-12 play.

Slogging the game out for the first 23 minutes, the Wildcats finally showed some life when they artfully turned a pair of OSU turnovers into dunks and their first lead of the game three minutes into the second half.

Marcquise Reed scored 17 points, Donte Grantham added 16 and Mark Donnal finished with a season-high 13 for Clemson (14-2, 3-1), which had its 10-game winning streak end.

The Oregon State swimming program will kick off the new year with a Pac-12 dual against UCLA at the Osborn Aquatic Center at 7 p.m. Friday.

Prayers for Jessica go internet-wide as life support turned off
Vivian Falkholt's brother Paul Ponticello spoke at their funeral, saying he thought he and his sister "would grow old together". Annabelle died in hospital three days later, and Jessica had remained in a coma following several surgeries.

The Oregon State baseball team is ranked second by Perfect Game to open the 2018 season. Defensively, Arizona State yields 74.1 points against the opposing teams. Ayton still finished with 14 points and 10 rebounds. That ignited the 16-3 run that finally put the game under control for the Wildcats. Dusan Ristic and Parker Jackson-Cartwright trapped Thompson near the sideline and midcourt lines and when Thompson coughed it up, Alkins picked it up and raced in for an expressive reverse dunk that made it 29-26. The Beavers went back ahead 35-31 with its defense continuing to throw off UA offensively. Similar to that ranking, Oregon State trails only Florida.

The Beavers took a 12-2 lead over the cold-shooting Wildcats, an early spurt capped by Tinkle's 3-pointer. Instead, Ira Lee's three-point play on a breakaway stuff and Trier's 3-pointer cut the lead to 22-21 with 3:11 to go, and neither team could score again before halftime. Kodi Justice led Arizona State's team in scoring with 21 points, while shooting 50% from the field (making 6 of 12 attempts).

St. Mary's 59, Santa Clara 46: Megan McKay scored a game-high 20 points to lead the host Gaels (11-5, 4-1 WCC) past the Broncos (5-11, 1-4), who shot a season-low 27.4-percent from the field. The two men combined for seven of the eight made 3-pointers for OR on the night.

The Beavers (10-5), meanwhile, feature a slow-as-molasses offense that only averages 75.3 points per game, good for 161st in the country.

But Ayton sat out five minutes in the first half after collecting his second foul, and the Wildcats missed their first eight 3-pointers.
