Graham Wants Trump To Create A Pathway To Citizenship For Illegal Immigrants

U.S. President Donald Trump will meet on Tuesday with Republican and Democratic lawmakers in an uphill search for an election-year compromise on protecting thousands of young, undocumented immigrants from deportation.

Hoyer said Trump himself mentioned fences and technology.

Since Trump made a decision to end DACA in September, lawmakers have been working to find a deal on the issue.

"The Democrats have been told, and fully understand, that there can be no DACA without the desperately needed WALL at the Southern Border and an END to the disgusting Chain Migration & ridiculous Lottery System of Immigration etc", Trump tweeted in December. "So I think the Democrats have more to lose politically if they draw too hard of a line".

Trump expressed the necessity for increased border security by referencing the drug trade's malign effects.

"I really do believe Democrat and Republican, the people sitting in this room, really want to get something done", Trump said. And Republicans control both the Senate and House.

"You folks are going to have to come up with a solution, and if you do, I'm going to sign that solution", he told them. "We've got the time to do it", said Sen.

But in football nothing is sure. "So it's important that we must achieve everything we want together". Kane has been linked with Real Madrid - but Pochettino is adamant he'll remain in north London.

It was an weird scene: For around an hour, cameras rolled as Trump moderated a conversation between Democrats and Republicans from both chambers of Congress on DACA - Trump's repeal of which has left almost 800,000 young people at risk of deportation - border security and so-called "chain migration" (this administration's term for existing family-based advantages for prospective immigrants).

"Unfortunately, following that meeting, the White House issued a series of unreasonable demands entirely outside the scope of our ongoing negotiations about DACA and border security", Schumer said on the Senate floor Monday. Nothing gets done on the budget until the prospect of political damage stares them in the face. Trump later clarified that there is no agreement without the wall.

President Donald Trump appeared to contradict himself multiple times in a meeting on immigration with a bipartisan group of lawmakers Tuesday - a reflection of growing frustration from Capitol Hill about the lack of direction from the White House on the issue.

Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-Vt. suggested an "easy way out" of the stalemate.

Speaking to reporters a day before a White House meeting on immigration, Cornyn said Democrats won't agree to new spending caps for domestic and defense programs that are key to writing a broad spending bill for this fiscal year. Trump, he said, promised repeatedly on the campaign trail that Mexico would pay for the wall. "Unless the wall is 35,000 feet high, it's not going to do much to stop those overstaying these visas", Robert Warren, a fellow at the Center for Migration Studies, told the Times.
