Couple accused of murdering four-year-old captured in Georgia

Sumpter Township police have released photos of a man and woman they say are wanted in the death of their 4-year-old daughter.

Police records also paint a chaotic scene at the couple's home where Fields was accused of assaulting Diaz, shooting her dog and then shooting himself. After the arrived, CPR was being administered by family members and officers found the girl suffering from "obvious severe burns about her extremities".

Upon reaching the spot, they found the severely burnt victim and rushed her to Saint Joseph Mercy Hospital, Ann Arbor. On Jan. 3, the local medical examiner ruled that her death was a homicide, pointing to signs of numerous traumatic injuries and indications of battered child syndrome.

The pair are believed to be traveling in a 2002 Chevy Cavalier with the MI license plate DTR1854.

Wayne County prosecutors have charged Candice Diaz, 24, the little girl's mother, and Brad Edward Fields, 28, with the preschooler's stomach-turning murder.

Diaz eventually pleaded guilty to weapons charges and was sentenced to probation.

The suspects were arrested by U.S. Marshals in Macon, Georgia with help from the Lowndes County Sheriff Department, said Sumpter Township Police Chief Eric Luke in a news release.

Gabby's family has set up a GoFundMe account for funeral costs.

"She was a ball of joy", added Deborah Barrett, Gabby's grandmother.
