MA gas prices climb 5 cents per gallon, to $2.48

One year ago, the price was $2.35.

Gas in San Francisco was the highest in the contiguous United States at an average of $3.22 a gallon.

The range in prices in the latest AAA survey for unleaded regular is 48 cents, from a low of $2.31 to a high of $2.79.

The New York state average is $2.64, up 2 cents from last week.

Meanwhile over the past week, the national average has increased 0.4 cents per gallon to $2.48. West Texas Intermediate crude oil prices averaged $51 per barrel in 2017, up $7 per barrel from the 2016 average, and ended the year at $60 per barrel, $6 higher than at the end of 2016.

Gas prices held steady during the first week of 2018 in Southwest Florida, and analysts say drivers can expect to see a seasonal slide in what they pay at the pump.

AAA Northeast said gas prices are up two cents in Rhode Island and up five cents in MA.
