Florida Man Calls 911, Reports Himself As Drunk Driver

According to a call released by authorities Friday, 39-year-old Michael Lester called Polk County 911 shortly before 9 report he was driving drunk and needed to be pulled over. At another point in the call, he said "I'm driving on the wrong side of the road".

Lester had a criminal history that included another drink-driving incident, aggravated battery, drug possession, disorderly conduct and hit-and-run, police added.

"I think I am going to go get something to eat, they can catch up with me later", he said.

But the dispatcher doesn't let Lester off the line, insisting that he share with her his last name, to which he refuses.

He said when asked again: 'No, I don't feel like giving that to you right now'.

Lester's 911 call was recorded and posted on the Facebook page. "You're on the wrong side of the street you may hurt somebody or yourself", she responded.

The dispatcher continually tried to get Lester to pull over, kept him talking, and directed a deputy to his location.

"Michael first told the deputy he had only two beers", the post said. Then he changed it to three or four (slightly more accurate),' said the sheriff's office on Facebook.

"Driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs is a serious crime". He also told them he had only slept for about four hours in the past four days.and that he had swallowed meth instead of smoking it.

Officers thanked Lester for "throwing himself under the bus".
