AMD drops prices on entire Ryzen/Threadripper range of CPUs

Those models will be followed by the second-gen Ryzen, Ryzen Pro and Threadripper CPUs later in the year. 2nd-gen Ryzen will be built on a 12nm process using the Zen+ architecture, which includes minor optimizations to first-gen Zen. They also hinted at double digit performance gains, though they weren't exactly specific on any claims.

Along with the new CPUs, AMD will be debuting a new motherboard chipset.

Another step down, the dual-core Ryzen 3 2200U runs with 4 threads at standard 2.5GHz frequency that boosts up to 3.4GHz. Without knowing the system specs and detail settings used, this is hard to validate, but AMD's long-running graphics experience should provide a marked improvement in gaming on lower-cost machines.

Are any desktop processors with integrated graphics on the horizon?

They do this while adding Vega graphics capability and matching or lower prices. It also packs a Vega GPU with 11 compute units, or 704 shader cores, with a base clock of 1240 MHz. The integrated graphics adapter gets only 3 CUs (192 Shader units).

The Ryzen 3 2200G is better still value.

Prior to this, the AMD Ryzen 2 was expected to arrive in February as it was indicated in a leaked roadmap of the manufacturer, but it turns out the company needs more time.

AMD has shown some performance numbers for both APUs, and the Ryzen 5 2400G in particular is - at least in their testing - as fast as an Intel Core i5-8400 paired with an Nvidia GeForce GT 1030.

Now, AMD has made the price cuts official for several models.

On top of this, AMD has announced a new box cooler, the Wraith Prism, which features a better fin profile for compact systems, direct copper heatpipe contact with the CPU, and a ton more RGB.

Tanker Collision, 32 Missing
It was due to arrive at Daesan in South Korea from Kharg Island in Iran on Sunday, according to Reuters ship tracking. The 225-meter-long second vessel CF CRYSTAL , carrying 64,000 tonnes of grain, was partly damaged in the collision.

AMD's MSRP hasn't reflected actual pricing for quite some time. This is followed later in the year by 12nm Threadrippers and 12nm Ryzen Pros. Think yearly cadences from the 1st gen launch and you won't be disappointed. If these cuts haven't pushed through to retail just yet, they should be hopefully very soon.

What specs will Ryzen Pro Mobile have?

The Ryzen Pro family offers numerous same benefits of the Ryzen Mobile chips, including on-board Vega graphics, but with additional security and reliability features.

Next up is the Ryzen 5 2400G which is another quad-core chip with a base clock speed of 3.6 GHz and peaks out at 3.9 GHz under boost mode. That's padded by 8 graphics compute units and a 1100MHz max GPU clock. X470 will launch in April with the new Ryzen CPUs and be the brain behind the Zen+ platform.

What's new about the 2018 Ryzen desktop chips?

Before CES 2018 started, AMD held an event and showed off a lot of what is coming. There's a catch, however, as AMD says the 7nm Vega parts will initially be destined for machine learning Radeon Instinct products, presumably with consumer variants coming later.

Vega Mobile is AMD's update to its Vega GPU line. There don't appear to be any other substantial changes to the underlying architecture, though AMD may have a surprise or two in store. The desktop Vega offering, for example, features a z-height more in the 3mm range. They are not too far away nonetheless. And as a quick note, AMD also revealed that modern Radeon cards will support HDMI 2.1 with variable refresh technology, so that's kinda neat. Building a low-priced PC with a Ryzen CPU has been hard due to the requirement of a discrete graphics card.
