Man dies after picking up explosive device outside Stockholm metro station

According to local media, a 60-year-old man is critical condition, because the device exploded in his hands as he lifted it from the ground.

A man has died and a woman been injured after an explosion outside a metro station in Stockholm.

The man was taken the hospital but his injuries proved fatal.

Police checked in and around the subway station after the blast to make sure there were no additional explosive devices. "Nothing indicates that the (injured) couple were targeted", said Olsson, adding there was nothing to suggest an act of terrorism.

Local resident Milorad Jencic told AFP he was shocked as witnesses and onlookers gathered around the police cordon.
