Acer's Chromebook 11 brings USB-C charging to entry-level laptops

Acer's Chromebook 11 brings USB-C charging to entry-level laptops

Acer says these new Chromebooks are ideal for everyday use with their super portable design and up to 10-hours of battery life.

Under the hood is 7th generation Intel Celeron N processors paired with 8GB of RAM. Storage is either 16 GB or 32 GB of eMMC, though of course the expectation is that you'll keep most of your content in Google Drive in the cloud.

Tanker Collision, 32 Missing
It was due to arrive at Daesan in South Korea from Kharg Island in Iran on Sunday, according to Reuters ship tracking. The 225-meter-long second vessel CF CRYSTAL , carrying 64,000 tonnes of grain, was partly damaged in the collision.

The new Chromebook 11 will be available in two different variants with the main difference being the addition of a touch display on the CB311-8HT model, compared to the non-touch version which comes with the CB311-8H model number. Don't run in a panic to the dongle store-you still get two USB 3.0 Type-A ports (whew!).

There are actually two USB-C ports, so you can use one to top up the battery and a second for copying files from a phone or memory stick. The Chromebook will include Bluetooth 4.2, as well as 2×2 MIMO 802.11ac Wi-Fi, and an HDR video conferencing camera. The whole thing is 0.71-inches thick and weighs 2.43 pounds. A built-in microphone and stereo speakers are ob board too. This year, with Android app support and especially USB-C, it's a sign that the average computing experience is moving forward-but gently, so you're not shut out of your precious USB-A peripherals just yet. That's something we've seen particularly boost the everyday usability of Chromebooks like Google's Pixelbook, though Acer undercuts Google's own model significantly. Acer's previous Chromebooks have been some of the most popular laptops in recent sales events like Black Friday and Amazon's Prime Day, invariably selling out more quickly than their Windows 10 counterparts. In terms of availability, the new Chromebook 11 is due to firstly become available in EMEA, starting from March, and priced as low as €249.
