Titans rally to beat Chiefs in AFC wild card game

The Titans quarterback snagged it and dove into the end zone to cut Kansas City's lead to 21-10.

Rapoport added the Titans are prepared to take a run at New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels if they don't bring Mularkey back.

The Chiefs took a commanding 21-3 lead into halftime, but they failed to score the rest of the game.

But the Titans scored three touchdowns in the second half, including two in the fourth quarter.

The Titans are all about quarterback Marcus Mariota, although he has not had a great season.

Marcus Mariota did what few quarterbacks have ever done before at the National Football League level this Saturday in Kansas City - he caught his own touchdown pass. He tried to throw a pass over the Chief's Darelle Revis, who deflected the ball back toward Mariota. On the second play of that possession, Kelce caught a 12-yard pass and was hit extremely hard by S Johnathan Cyprien, who legally led with his shoulder but accidentally caught Kelce in a helmet-to-helmet collision. He became the first player to catch a touchdown pass from himself since Brad Johnson in Week 7, 1997, according to NFL Research. The Chiefs didn't score off either mistake.

Marcus Mariota proved Gisele Bundchen wrong.

There also was a raucous scene in the Bills' locker room after a win over Miami when they saw Dalton's touchdown pass. This is likely the highest honor Bills fans can bestow upon someone, so I hope Dalton doesn't take it lightly.

If not for a road win over the Houston Texans a couple of years ago, the Chiefs would still be searching for their first postseason victory of any kind since that home win over the Pittsburgh Steelers.

In the third quarter, Chiefs cornerback Keith Reaser recovered Jackson's muff at the Titans 28. They could only muster negative-two yards on three plays, and their long field goal attempt was shanked off the left upright by Harrison Butker.

The officials missed an apparent fumble by each team in the second quarter.

Wrong. Triplette ruled that Mariota's forward progress had been stopped. It was the second straight TD drive for Kansas City, both covering 75-plus yards. Mariota clearly lost the ball before hitting the ground. The play was not reviewed.

Tennessee got the ball back with 2:09 left in the game. The Chiefs finished the drive with a touchdown. The first came on a one-yard run by Kareem Hunt and the second on a 13-yard catch by Kelce. The Titans needed a win in their regular-season finale and some help to earn a wild-card spot as the AFC's fifth seed. Chiefs linebacker Derrick Johnson scooped a loose ball and returned it for what seemed like the go-ahead touchdown with less than two minutes to play.

Henry started for the second consecutive game in place of DeMarco Murray, who is sidelined by a knee injury.
