Mariah Carey 'Wanted to Prove Herself' With New Year's Eve Comeback Performance

Mariah Carey 'Wanted to Prove Herself' With New Year's Eve Comeback Performance

Carey's performance was undoubtedly far superior to her 2017 effort, where she faced technical difficulties that left her to stop singing and awkwardly pace back and forth on the stage. "I was told there would be tea?"

"I just want to take a sip of tea if they'll let me - they told me there would be tea", she said explained to the crowd after her opening song. OK, well, we'll just have to rough it.

Host Ryan Seacrest asked Carey how she felt following her performance to which she replied, "I'm feeling a lot better than a year ago, when I had to get my own police escort".

On Sunday, the diva took the stage at Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve, despite the unfortunate and somewhat disastrous performance that plagued the ears and eyes of everyone last year.

While her vocals may not be as effortless as they once were, and the cold weather no doubt put a strain on her voice, we think she put on a fabulous show.

Kevin De Bruyne injured as late penalty save preserves City's unbeaten run
We will bring you more information on Gabriel and Kevin as we get it right here on in the coming days. But Belgium global De Bruyne was seen walking back to the City dressing room accompanied by two medical staff.

"I'm feeling a lot better than a year ago", she said, "when I had to get my own police escort".

In spite of the frigid temperatures and broken promise for tea, Carey put on quite the show, making us forget the trainwreck of New Year's Eve 2016. "Get these monitors on please", she said. She started a two-song set at 11.38pm with Vision Of Love, her first single, from 1990.

After her performance, she posted a picture of herself sipping tea on Twitter. "She played it off but was a little mad", the insider adds. Sure. But in pop the best deliver something beyond technique - some eruption of drama or comedy or outrage like the one Carey provided in 2016 with her lovable star-turn meltdown.

Mariah Carey performs on "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin" Eve' at Times Square in New York City on December 31, 2017.
