Elon Musk mistakenly tweets his phone number to the public

Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, the private company that does space stuff, a man who should probably be nationalized for the sake of humanity, made a mistake.

Musk accidentally sent out his phone number to his 16.7 million twitter followers.

Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, accidentally posted his personal cell phone number on Twitter, making it visible to his almost 17 million followers.

Musk was trying to reach John Carmack, the chief technology officer (CTO) of Facebook's virtual reality subdivision Oculus, on Twitter on December 19 and gave out his number so he could get in touch with the billionaire tech-mogul.

According to Business Insider, the number indeed appears to be Musk's personal number and it registers as ready for Apple iMessage.

Musk, 46, deleted the tweet soon after, but by then many had already seen it, USA Today reports.

No, we didn't get Musk on the phone.

Musk's faux pas did attract a lot of Twitter talk.

"By the Gods you've done it", the message starts.

Elon Musk now operates his own electric self-driving auto company called Tesla and he might be wanting to incorporate the same technology into his vehicles. "Somehow you've found your way here to me".

Facebook owns Oculus and a representative told Bloomberg Carmack doesn't plan to leave the company.

A call placed to the number that Musk tweeted on Tuesday went to voicemail and played a message from the video game God of War.
