The Last Jedi spoiler talk: Carrie Fisher's breathtakingly powerful scene as Leia

"Stars Wars: The Last Jedi" is one of those motion pictures. The highly anticipated sequel continues the franchise's main narrative, picking up shortly after the events of The Force Awakens. The release of "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" - the last project Carrie filmed before her December 2016 death - brought her portrayal of Princess Leia to the big screen one last time.

"The late Carrie Fisher's dog Gary just watched "The Last Jedi"!".

While she had the pup on her lap, she admitted to ABC reporter Veronica Miracle that the dog "perked up" when he saw Fisher on the big screen.

Gary, who has his own Instagram feed, is now owned by Carrie's old assistant Corby McCoin and is still taken round to Star Wars fan meetings.

The production team faced a hard challenge in the wake of Fisher's passing, as they had to decide whether to edit the film to wrap up Leia's story in some way or to preserve her final performance as it was intended.

When Johnson returned to work on The Last Jedi at the start of 2017, "the very first conversation" he had with Lucasfilm had to do with whether or not he'd make any adjustments or major changes to the film following her passing.

Good dog, Gary. Good boy. "She was just the best", he said.

In the scene, Leia says the line: "So much loss".

Ford addressed his long-speculated affair with Fisher, feeling "strange" on his past relationship going public.

Carrie Fisher's dog, Gary, has been without his owner for nearly a year now, after the actress passed away on December 27, 2017 following a severe cardiac arrest on a flight from London to Los Angeles. Leia was originally going to have a major presence in Episode IX, so it should be fascinating to see how the plot is reworked.
