Former Brazil, and AC Milan midfielder Kaka, announces retirement

Kaka's retirement from football at the age of 35 has understandably prompted an outpouring of affection from across the football world.

Kaka turned down the chance to prolong his playing days with a third spell at AC Milan in order to retire from professional football. "I have arrived to the conclusion that now is the moment to finish my career as a professional player".

Kaka explained he had taken time to watch games in Europe - including Milan's 5-1 Europa League win over Austria Wien last month - since leaving the United States to find out whether the fire still burned in terms of making a return to the playing field.

Renowned for his strong mazy dribbles, his finishing and his creativity in providing goalscoring opportunities for others, Kaka played 92 times for Brazil, scoring 29 times. He was part of the Brazil squad that lifted the trophy in 2002.

Georgini said France remained concerned by Iran's ballistic missile program and urged it to abide fully by U.N. Iran's mission to the United Nations said the evidence was "fabricated" to serve a U.S. agenda.

Kaka said that he would like to remain linked professionally to soccer, perhaps as a manager or sports director of a team. Kaka was part of the Milan team that won the 2007 Champions League final against Liverpool.

When he moved to Real Madrid in 2009, he was widely regarded as one of the best players in the world, but he never lived up to the hype in the Spanish capital.

Kaka posted a prayer on Twitter to announce his decision to hang up his boots, writing that he is "ready for the next journey".

UEFA super cup, Federation Internationale de Football Association club world cup, and two Confederations Cup medals also found their way into Kaka's collection during his time as a player, while the living legend goes down as the last player to win the coveted Ballon d'Or trophy before the back and forth rivalry of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
