Apple now allowing users to pre-order apps

Apple notifies you when the app you've preordered is available for download and automatically downloads it to your device within 24 hours. It could be another way for bigger app makers to dominate search ads, using three-month pre-order campaigns that smaller competitors can't afford.

You can also find a new subcategory within App Store's Games category that promotes some of the games now in pre-order.

As an end user, buying apps via pre-order seems to make little sense because there is no guarantee that an app will turn out the way you thought.

In addition to offering apps for pre-orders, Apple will report pre-orders as part of the Sales and Trends section of iTunes Connect.

"Customers can see your product page and order your app before it's released for download".

So did Kansas City's offense, which produced for the second straight week as offensive coordinator Matt Nagy called the plays. As Vic Tafur of the Athletic noted on Twitter, the two late scores by Oakland made the game appear closer than it was.

Developers will also able to make pricing changes and other tweaks during the pre-order period, although customers will always be charged the lowest price - so either the one they accepted for pre-order, or the price on the day of release.

Can't wait to get a hot new app?

There are a few interesting elements to the pre-order process that are worth highlighting.

Pre-orders are only available after the App Store has approved an app, and customers won't be charged until they download the app.

In addition, Apple has added a "Pre-Orders" section to the Games tab of the App Store, which now includes five games.
