Browns Fire VP Sashi Brown, Will Keep Hue Jackson Amid Tumultuous Rebuild

The Browns have had four different leaders of the football ops department and four coaches since Haslam purchased the team in 2012.

It didn't take John Dorsey very long to find a new job-not that anyone expected the former Kansas City Chiefs general manager to even last very long on the open market.

It's been a rough few weeks for Browns owner Jimmy Haslam. "We're going to do whatever it takes to get a QB".

"We are thrilled to have John Dorsey lead our football operations".

Thursday night the Browns made it official, completing one of the shortest general manager searches in history. Of the 24 draft picks they made in the last two seasons, 20 of them should be able to contribute on an National Football League roster, according to Optimum Scouting's Eric Galko.

Along with losing, the Browns have been consistent in front-office and coaching shake-ups.

Brown was named the team's top executive by the Haslams during an overhaul following the 2015 season. The Browns 0-12 start ended Brown's operations in the middle of his second season. Hogan failed to make the team and is now Cleveland's third-stringer.

WKSU sports commentator Terry Pluto says Brown's poor drafting record played a key role in the team's decision.

There have been multiple reports that the Browns did satisfy the requirements of the rule. Sashi and the team that consists of Andrew Berry and Paul DePodesta.

Jackson being safe at this time is something of a surprise given the context of the winless campaign but, in the end, it appears that Cleveland's leadership decided it was the roster, not the coaching, that is dooming the Browns at this point. The team didn't submit the required paperwork to the league in time to complete the deal before the deadline on October 31, and the clumsy misstep may have been the final straw for Brown.

The Browns host the Green Bay Packers on Sunday.
