NHL Agrees to Consider Seattle Expansion Proposal

A Los Angeles-based development group signed a memorandum of understanding with Seattle to privately finance a $600 million remodel. "And the board has said that they may do that".

"Weve agreed as a league to take and consider an expansion application, and to let them run in the next few months a season-ticket drive", Bettman said.

The Sonics relocated to Oklahoma City in 2008. He made the announcement after the first day of the Board of Governors meeting. The team wont move from North Carolina, commissioner Gary Bettman said. We are thrilled that it is happening.

"Evaluating the market, the arena, the ownership, the impact on the league is something that we'll go through", said Bettman. If everything goes according to plan, the next question of Seattle will be what to name their National Hockey League franchise. That number comes into play for an organization such as the Vegas Golden Knights, who must get there in their inaugural season, but have had no problem racking up wins despite the players' lack of familiarity with one another. Bettman said only Seattle is being considered at this time.

The NHL has yet to approve the expansion.

White House dismisses questions over Donald Trump's slurring as 'ridiculous'
With that said, Trump, now 71, was the oldest newly elected president when he took office in January at age 70. What's more, Sanders' pushback notwithstanding, there's nothing "ridiculous" about the questions.

And not every market can afford to pay that fee and make it work.

The league deferred its decision on Quebec City's expansion bid when awarding a franchise to Las Vegas.

A Seattle team would be the league's 32nd franchise.

OVG co-founder Tim Leiweke had no immediate comment Thursday about the developments. In most cases, agreements for an arena are the central cause and as long as those issues go unresolved, Houston hockey fans can wishfully think of these four teams as relocation candidates. "We're projecting from our standpoint that the final escrow, when it's settled out and we disperse it, will be a single-digit escrow from player salaries for last season".

Durkan hopes to meet with potential owner David Bonderman soon. " ... I think we'll see the launch right after the first of the year, because it's not a time right now to be launching that kind of campaign. But I think there is a lot of pent up appetite in Seattle for this", Durkan said.
