NRA hails the House's passage of Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act

It's the first gun measure of any kind considered by Congress in the aftermath of two major mass shootings in Las Vegas and Texas. Cuomo's comments came at a Manhattan news conference on Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2017.

Combining these bills will be sacrificing actual progress for public safety in order to undermine state gun laws across the country. "Only the NRA could propose something so ill-considered, risky and vile". We wish to thank Congressman Richard Hudson for his bold and courageous leadership on this issue, as well as every House member who co-sponsored and voted for this important measure to protect and advance constitutional rights. Peter King, of Long Island, and Dan Donovan, of Staten Island, were the only GOP House members to vote against it. This gem would force communities across the nation to permit individuals from other states to carry hidden and loaded handguns in public.

The point of the policy is to effectively override state-based conceal-carry restrictions. This bill would allow permit holders from states allowing concealed carry at younger ages to, in essence, violate more restrictive states' laws.

Celebrities React to Los Angeles Wildfires
Residents living west of the 405 should brace for evacuations as well in the event the flames cross the freeway. Some 1,000 firefighters battled to save homes, with one suffering a minor injury, Welsbie said.

In a statement, Stefanik said that 2nd amendment rights "don't disappear when we cross state lines". "The legislation passed by the House today ensures that people who carry their legal firearm across state borders are protected under the law".

The National Shooting Sports Foundation supports the new bill. Named for Michael Boeglin, a 31 year old owner-operator who was shot to death while waiting to pick up a load in Detroit in 2014, Mike's Law called for nationwide hide and carry reciprocity for truck drivers on the job. This legislation passed the House 231-198. "Why should Texans, who have adopted strong, sensible standards for a license to carry be forced to contend with concealed carry gun owners in states that have not", O'Rourke wrote in a Medium post.

Democrats said the measure would let gun owners from states with limited laws come to NY, saying Congress should be strengthening gun control laws in the wake of mass shootings. "At a time when NY boasts some of the most significant drops in violent crime, this brash and misguided legislation has the potential to reverse that trend as it will make it easier for people with criminal histories to carry risky firearms on our streets".
