Chad Morris likely to be hired at Arkansas

It's official. Chad Morris was named the 33rd head football coach in University of Arkansas history Wednesday.

While we can't independently confirm Arkansas and Morris have reached an agreement, ESPN has two reporters confirming the news.

The 49-year-old Morris is 14-22 in three seasons with the Mustangs, including 7-5 this year. He went 2-10 in his first season with a program that had won just one in the previous season and improved to 5-7 in 2016.

The Mustangs qualified for a bowl game this season for the first time since 2012 when June Jones was the head coach for SMU.

The studio has not yet released full patch notes for update 1.1.0; we'll amend this article with details once they're available. Bungie has swapped the weekly reset time yet again, so you're going to be waiting a bit today until the expansion is live.

Before his arrival at SMU, Morris spent four seasons as Dabo Swinney's offensive coordinator at Clemson, where he helped land Deshaun Watson.

Morris replaces Bret Bielema, who was sacked after posting a 29-34 record in five seasons.

"The future is tremendously bright at the University of Arkansas with the addition of Chad Morris", Arkansas athletic director Hunter Yurachek said in a statement. It was the only win over a ranked opponent in Morris' tenure at SMU.

Things could have gotten a little bit awkward between Gus Malzahn and whomever Arkansas hired as its next head coach. Entering bowl play, SMU is No. 13 nationally in total offense, averaging 494.5 yards per game, and No. 8 in scoring offense, putting up 40.2 points per game. SMU improved to 5-7 a year ago, including a 38-16 win over No. 11 Houston.
