Selena Gomez gives tearful speech thanking friend who gave her a kidney

"To be honest, I think Francia should be getting this award because she saved my life", Gomez said tearfully.

Washington D.C.: Selena Gomez is Billboard's "Woman of the Year", but she feels that for her this accolade should go to her best friend and kidney donor, Francia Raisa. "Honestly, I couldn't be more grateful for the position I've been given in my career". I love deeply and I think that's just who I am. "Our Latina sisterhood has connected us professionally and personally", she said.

She explained, "I've cried. We are so close that we literally are the same kidney type".

Gomez nearly immediately teared up after accepting the award from Raisa, saying she saved her life.

Margot Robbie Is Returning As Harley Quinn In An EPIC Way
I mean, it's hard to kind of talk about it, because all the stuff is kind of under lock and key. There are four Harley Quinn movies on the schedule and at least two more Wonder Woman films.

After such a huge year, it's no surprise that Selena was awarded Billboard's Woman Of The Year, because, well, she's an unbelievable human being...

She then paid tribute to those who had come before her. "There aren't words to describe how I can possibly thank my handsome friend Francia Raisa", Gomez wrote on Instagram at the time.

I’m very aware some of my fans had noticed I was laying low for part of the summer and questioning why I wasn’t promoting my new music, which I was extremely proud of. In September, Gomez had a kidney transplant because of her battle with lupus. It was what I needed to do for my overall health. Until then I want to publicly thank my family and incredible team of doctors for everything they have done for me prior to and post-surgery.

Meanwhile, if she wanted to cover up her scar, she could, but doesn't plan to just yet: "When I look at my body now, I just see life". In acting and in film, you're around a much more stable community.
