Sweeping aside Russian Federation probe, Trump says 'we're unbeatable'

Court records say Flynn contacted the Russian ambassador on December 22 about the Trump administration's opposition to a United Nations resolution against Israeli settlements. "There was nothing to hide!"

Brushing aside an ongoing Russian Federation probe, President Donald Trump reveled Saturday in the Senate's passage of a sweeping tax bill, predicting with swagger that he and his fellow Republicans were "unbeatable". He may think changing the subject from Flynn's crimes - and bombshell reporting that Flynn plans to testify against Trump - to the GOP tax scam will be good for him, but the American people see through that, too. Flynn's statements about his Russian Federation contacts and his 2016 consulting work for a Turkish client both came under scrutiny by special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation.

Rep. Ted Lieu (D-Calif.) also said Trump's tweet was proof of wrongdoing.

The special counsel examining alleged Russian interference in the 2016 USA presidential election removed a top FBI investigator from his team for exchanging text messages with a colleague that expressed anti-Trump views, two US newspapers reported on Saturday.

The Impeach-O-Meter is a wildly subjective and speculative daily estimate of the likelihood that Donald Trump leaves office before his term ends, whether by being impeached (and convicted) or by resigning under threat of same.

The US president has now suggested he knew at the time of the sacking that Flynn had lied to the Federal Bureau of Investigation as well as to Vice President Mike Pence about his contacts with Russians during the presidential transition. The White House later explained Flynn's ouster by saying he had lost the trust of both Trump and Pence. The White House has denied that the conversation occurred as Comey described. President Donald Trump and many of his supporters have sought to discredit the investigation, in part by claiming a close relationship between Mueller and fired FBI Director James Comey and by pointing to political contributions to Democratic candidates made by some lawyers on the team. At that time, Trump, however, did not give any definitive answer to the question of whether he would stand by his former advisor. He was removed from Mueller's team this summer, the reports indicated.

"What has been shown is no collusion, no collusion", Mr Trump told reporters as he departed the White House for the NY trip. There has been absolutely no collusion.

"We got no democrat help and I think that's going to cost them very big in the election, because basically they voted against tax cuts", he added.
