Israeli Missiles Hit Military Site Near Damascus Outskirts

The "blatant assault" led to material losses at the site in the countryside around the capital, it said, Al Jazeera reported.

Israel has declined to comment.

Syrian state television has confirmed that Israel attacked a military base outside of Damascus overnight on Friday, which Israeli media reports involved both surface-to-surface missiles and airstrikes, while Syria says its air defense systems were engaged and intercepted two missiles.

The surface-to-surface missiles were aimed at "military targets" to the south-west of Damascus, although Syrian air defences managed to down some of the projectiles, SANA news agency claimed.

The Israeli air force has said it struck arms convoys of the Syrian military and Lebanon's Hezbollah almost 100 times during more than six years of the Syrian war.

Meanwhile Times of Israel reported the incident quoting Arab media.

Stranger Things officially renewed by Netflix for third season
The news follows Netflix's announcement that Mindhunter, a serial killer drama starring Holt McCallany and Jonathan Groff, will return for Season 2.

The Israeli strike also targeted a site belonging to the Syrian regime in the area, the sources said.

Earlier, a senior Israeli official vowed to bomb Syrian President's palace if Hezbollah continued to expand its sway over Syria.

On October 16th, the army Air Defense intercepted Israeli aircrafts which penetrated the Syrian airspace near the Lebanese borders and directly hit one of them.

In November, the BBC reported that it had been told by a western intelligence source that Iran is establishing a permanent military base on a Syrian Army compound.

On September 7, at least two Syrian soldiers were killed after Israeli fighter jets targeted an army position in the west-central province of Hama, just days after the Syrian army broke the siege imposed by the Takfiri Daesh terror group on the eastern city of Dayr al-Zawr.
