World Cup Draw Live in Moscow! Who's in Croatia's Group?

World Cup Draw Live in Moscow! Who's in Croatia's Group?

In the draw held for the 32 competing nations in Moscow today, Nigeria and Argentina were drawn together in Group D.

As the World awaits the draw for 2018 FIFA World Cup which is due later today, Nigerians hopes to escape the group of death which is usually the case since our first outing in 1994.

"It is a feasible challenge because of the type of teams".

After losing 0-1 to Germany in extra time at the last World Cup final, Argentina and their talisman Lionel Messi will be desperate to lift the trophy. "They cannot play as badly as they are doing", said Maradona after the draw in Moscow.

Iceland is not a pushover, and many in the soccer world feel that Argentina, a two-time World Cup victor, drew one of the toughest groups in the tournament. Around 6,000 guests gathered in Moscow for the paramount football event, and fans of Croatian football have finally found out Croatia's opponents for next year's world tournament!

And despite being drawn against three teams who have never won the World Cup, Sampaoli, who replaced sacked Edgardo Bauza in May, anticipates a challenging campaign for his side.

"Nigeria has a young team, very fast".

Within the last few years, the men's basketball team of India defeated China successively in both 2014 as well as 2016. He now currently plays in the NBA developmental League for the Texas Legends.

"This is a hard group, but I think we can spring a surprise". Iceland and Croatia are in there as well to make things even more interesting.

Croatia coach Zlatko Dalic acknowledged that Argentina would be favoured to win the group.

"The minimum target is to have a good performance and have a good attitude", he said. "But our aim has to be to top the group", he said.

Victor Ikpeba was quick to point out that Nigeria have beaten the Argentines when it has not really mattered and it would be best they get their points in their opening two group games against Croatia and Iceland before the final game against Argentina so that they could go past the first round in Russian Federation. They are a good team, they are strong physically and they have the best fans in Europe.

"I am happy that we are not going to play Brazil and Germany in the first round", he said.

Despite having to face Messi, Nigeria striker Odion Ighalo was pleased to avoid the other giants of world football. "With this draw, we have a good chance of qualifying from the group".
