White House Displays Beautiful Nativity Scene with Baby Jesus

The National Christmas Tree will be lit during a ceremony that starts at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 30, at the White House. "And now, as the president of the United States, it's my tremendous honor to finally wish America and the world a very merry Christmas".

Inside of the Grand Foyer and Cross Hall, the decor was inspired by the "Nutcracker Suite" theme of the 1961 White House holiday decorations, with several Christmas trees coated with crystal ornaments and faux snow inside.

"Whatever our beliefs, we know that the birth of Jesus Christ and the story of this incredible life forever changed the course of human history", Mr. Trump told a crowd along the National Mall near the White House.

We can just imagine the festive spirit going on in the White House.

And Mrs. Trump didn't have to do all the decorating by herself.

Trump has repeatedly taken shots at Obama for not wishing the country a "Merry Christmas", both before and after he took office. Since 1966, the National Christmas Tree Association has been holding a competition for the official White House Blue Room tree. During the presidential campaign, he complained that saying "Happy Holidays" instead of "Merry Christmas" amounted to "chipping away at Christianity". Trump has vowed to put "Christmas" back at the centre of the holidays.

One Twitter user pointed out that the dimly lit hallway lined with dead branches painted white looks like the flawless spot to tape a "Stranger Things" scene.

The decor includes 71 wreaths, 53 Christmas trees, more than 18,000 lights, more than 12,000 ornaments, more than 3,100 yards (about 2,800 meters) of ribbon and more than 1,000 feet (300 meters) of Garland, the White House said.

An upfront commitment to make 20 episodes right out of the gate, however, would have been far less likely on The CW. No word on whether we'll see the comic's villain, Madam Satan, in the show, but we wouldn't bet against it.
