Smartphones steal Black Friday dollars, as mobile sales break records

Scrolling through social media, the early victor of Black Friday 2017 looks clear - but the truth may be more complicated.

The National Retail Federation estimates that 69 percent of Americans, or 164 million, people will take advantage of the deals retailers offer on a vast variety of goods in stores and online.

The discounts keep on going until Cyber Monday, which is always the first Monday after Black Friday, so this year it will fall on November 27.

Major retailers such as Walmart, Target, Best Buy and Kohl's have special Thanksgiving/Black Friday sales.
