Woman with 'Fuck Trump' truck decal adds sheriff's name after being arrested

"No, Sheriff Troy E. Nehls, you can't prosecute speech just because it contains words you don't like", the organization wrote alongside a screenshot of Nehls' original post.

State Rep. Ron Reynolds (D-Missouri City) said in a press release that the news conference will address the "injustice against Karen Fonseca".

Many - including the Texas branch of the American Civil Liberties Union, which offered to help Fonseca - saw the sheriff's Facebook post as a cut-and-dry attack on one woman's right to free speech.

He asked for tips on the identity of the truck's owner and said he would "like to discuss it" with the owner.

Last week, authorities arrested Karen Fonseca after learning that she was wanted for fraud in a case that dates back to August. "But if I can be used as bait for Troy Nehls to try to gain. supporters for him in his upcoming race for Congress against Pete Olson, then this is how the system works: Pick on the people who are vulnerable and step in and turn their lives around for gain".

Last week, Fort Bend County Sheriff Troy Nehls suggested in a Facebook post that the owner of the truck bearing the remark could be arrested and charged with disorderly conduct after the sheriff's office received complaints about it.

Fonseca said that she had the sticker for almost a year and that the decal has caused quite a bit of controversy in the community.

Nehls threatened to charge Fonseca with disorderly conduct over the sticker.

The next day, Nehls deleted the post.

But, she says that her arrest was connected to her truck. Sunday, she and her husband Miguel added her stickers to it.

The post quickly went viral, with thousands weighing in on the Fonseca's right to freedom of speech, according to the HuffPost. "But at the same time, I feel it was gone about the wrong way and the sticker is appropriate", she said. "We should stand together and always stand behind what [we] believe", Fronseca said. Fonseca also spoke with her children behind her.

Fonseca was arrested on Thursday over an outstanding fraud warrant issued in August.

As for Sheriff Nehls, he told local NBC affiliate KPRC he was "not surprised" by the addition of his name to Fonseca's truck, and that he "thinks it's disgusting".
