Valkyria Chronicles 4 Announced, Coming To West In 2018

Valkyria Chronicles 4 Announced, Coming To West In 2018

Valkyria Chronicles is a popular Japanese tactical game which has a surprisingly strong following in Western territories.

Valkyria Chronicles 4 will launch for Switch, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2018, Sega revealed in a surprise announcement over the weekend. Lastly, there's a new generation of the BLiTZ battle system, which blends turn-based strategy, RPG and real-time 3rd person shooting. Although the Federation struggles valiantly against the Empire's forces, the relentless imperial military machine threatens to consume them. When they know they can't win without a bold move, the Federation executes Operation Northern Cross, a final attempt to capture the imperial capital and end the war.

This new entry will be set during the same timeframe as the original Valkyria Chronicles, though it will feature an all-new cast - including an adorable dog in a hat.

Players will be taking command of a young and eager soldier called Commander Claude Wallace, heavy weapons extraordinaire Riley Miller, ace sniper Kai Schulen, hotheaded Darcsen Raz, and more.

Not only is the story returning to its origins, but we also have the CANVAS engine's watercolour inspired graphics returning and composer Hitoshi Sakimoto penning the soundtrack, just as he did for the original.

Valkyria Revolution was a big disappointment, but SEGA is hoping to put things right with yet another mainline release in its Valkyria Chronicles franchise. SEGA will release Valkyria Chronicles 4 in North America and Europe simultaneously in 2018.
