Trump on UCLA players: 'I should have left them in jail!'

Lavar Ball, the father of one of the UCLA players arrested in China, is taking fire from President Trump.

President Donald Trump tweeted Sunday that he shouldn't have helped orchestrate the release of three college basketball players from a Chinese jail after they were caught shoplifting last week. In response, Trump slammed Ball for being ungrateful and actually said, "I should have left them in jail". Trump's Chief of Staff John Kelly told the Times the president was instrumental in their release, bringing it up with China's Xi Jinping.

Asked to comment on Trump's help, Ball had told ESPN: "What was he over there for?"

Days after President Donald Trump touted his role in the release of three UCLA basketball students, he comes back with another diss aimed at LaVar Ball. "Don't tell me nothing", LaVar Ball told ESPN. That's gonna be debated, that's gonna be argued about, but I want to put that on the table: "it sure looks like race-baiting to a lot of people". They will not travel with the team or suit up for home games.

The President received the thanks of the players at a news conference later that day, where they also apologized for their behavior.

Meanwhile, Palaniswami blamed Sasikala's family for the search and said that the state government has nothing to do with it. He accused the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister of being responsible for the raid at Jayalalithaa's house.

Hill, Riley and Ball had been required to stay at their hotel in Hangzhou after being questioned about a shoplifting incident. All three players were suspended from the Bruins basketball team indefinitely.

Athletic director Dan Guerrero said the shoplifting occurred when the team had 90 minutes of free time on November 6 in Hangzhou.

As long as my boy's back here, I'm fine. "I'm happy with how things were handled". Like I told him, 'They try to make a big deal out of nothing sometimes'.

"Everybody gets stuck on the negativity of some things, and they get stuck on them too long", he concluded.
