Rotten Tomatoes Delayed 'Justice League' Review Is Bad

While the review embargo for the superhero team-up officially lifts tonight at 11:50pm PT/2:50am ET, at which time a slew of reviews will hit the interwebs, Rotten Tomatoes will not be revealing the score until Thursday at 12:01am ET-nearly a full day after reviews go online (via The Playlist). Any other movie would beg for that huge of an opening weekend. To date, only one DCEU (DC Extended Universe) film has ever received a fresh rating from Rotten Tomatoes (Wonder Woman at 92%), possibly spelling big changes for Warner Bros and DC for their next films. Does this mean Warner nervous about the score?

Even with its fairly low opening weekend predictions, Justice League did muster $13 million for Thursday previews, making it the fifth-highest grossing film for Thursday previews, behind all three of Marvel's film releases and Beauty and the Beast. As of time of writing, 156 reviews have been counted.

As promised the now infamous Rotten Tomatoes score was made available during the latest edition of See It/Skip It, a web show hosted by Jacqueline Coley and Segun Oduolowu where the two offers their opinions on what's hot and what's not in the world of Hollywood movies and TV shows. Domestically, estimates put the movie's opening weekend somewhere around $110 million to $120 million, which would put Justice League's opening weekend slightly in front of Wonder Woman's ($103.3 million), but well behind Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice's ($166 million).

Rotten Tomatoes has become increasingly important to helping audiences choose which films to see, and recent projects with glowing scores have overperformed at the box-office (see: Spider-Man: Homecoming and Wonder Woman). The reception is not as bad as Suicide Squad and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, but it falls short of the universal praise Wonder Woman got earlier this year. Justice League will fly into theaters on November 17, 2017. The average score for the movie is a 5.2/10 meaning most reviews gave it 2 or 3 stars in total.
