Game recap: New Orleans Saints 34, Washington Redskins 31 in OT

The Redskins already lost running back Rob Kelley for the season with an ankle injury.

Brees finished 29-of-41 passing, for 385 yards and two touchdowns. Washington extended that lead to 24-13 after three quarters, aided by a daring fake punt deep in their own territory to keep a touchdown drive going. The Saints were attempting to win eight straight for just the fourth time in franchise history.

Saints: Lattimore tried to return for the first defensive series of the second half, but came off the field soon after and went to the locker room. The Redskins quickly took advantage of the turnover, converting a 38-yard field goal for a 3-0 lead. A pile-up ensued and he had his leg bent up underneath a Saints player.

The Redskins gained 456 yards - their second most this season - against a Saints defense that had not allowed more 347 yards in any game during New Orleans' winning streak. The drive that followed was capped by a 40-yard Cousins TD pass to Ryan Grant, who was all alone behind the coverage.

The Saints trailed 31-16 late in the fourth quarter, but the Black and Gold scored 18 unanswered points in the fourth and overtime, giving the squad a 34-31 triumph. Then, after a Washington three-and-out, it took Brees less than a minute to tie the game, with some tremendous concentration on a wacky catch by Alvin Kamara (who would then run in the two-point conversation) suddenly bringing the Saints back. He turned in his first 100-yard rushing performance of his National Football League career last week when the Saints routed the Buffalo Bills, and he went over 1,000 all-purpose yards on the season with his performance on Sunday against Washington.
