DeShone Kizer suffers rib injury as Browns lose 38-24 to Lions

The Browns are also tied with the Lions for the worst 46-game stretch in National Football League history at 4-42.

Run Defense - The Browns normally stout run defense got gashed by runs of 20, 10 and 21 yards on consecutive plays - with Garrett, Ogbah and Shelton on the sideline - on 1 drive that eventually ended in a Matt Prater 46-yard field goal with 6:00 left in the 1st quarter to cut Cleveland's lead to 10-3. The team remains winless.

The 5-4 Detroit Lions will travel to the Windy City in Week 11 to face a divisional rival, the Chicago Bears.

The second-year veteran last played on October 22, replacing Kizer early in the third quarter of Cleveland's 12-9 overtime loss to the Tennessee Titans.

In his first game since the Browns tried to trade for AJ McCarron, DeShone Kizer was busy showing coach Hue Jackson that he didn't need to call upon an old friend to run his offense effectively. But from that point on, the Lions played like they should - and the Browns played like a team that was 0-8 going into the game and 0-9 heading home. Three plays later, the Browns had a touchdown on a 19-yard catch by Kenny Britt and a 10-0 lead. "What you've seen from us week in and week out, we've had a lot of guys up and down, but it's a team game". Kizer was playing arguably his best game of the season before being forced to the sidelines, having completed 15 of his 24 throws for 178 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions.

Considering how hapless the Browns have been for much of this season, that's a problem. It put the Lions ahead 17-10 with 3:55 left in the half - plenty of time for the Browns to score if they hadn't botched the end of the half. It went nowhere, and the Lions wisely made sure the Browns could not get up to spike the ball for a field goal try.

McGregor then followed Goddard across the cage before giving him a slight shove him in the back, just before officials intervened. He shouldn't have been in the cage at all, let alone in the cage celebrating and putting his hands on a referee.

Collins' departure marked a huge blow for the Browns, who had their full starting lineup for the first time this season.

On the next drive, Kizer scored on a 1-yard sneak to make it 24-17.

"When Deck's ready, Deck's going to play", Caldwell said.

NOTES: Lions DE Ziggy Ansah missed the game with a back injury.

After not punting at all in last week's game, the Lions lost 13 yards and punted on their first possession.
