Debuts For Abraham, Loftus-Cheek and Pickford

HOTSPUR midfielder, Eric Dier, took the captain's armband as an inexperienced England side played out an entertaining goalless friendly draw with World Champions, Germany, at Wembley Stadium.

Despite only making 12 Premier League appearances, Loftus-Cheek displays a kind of arrogance that makes him stand out.

"And that's because I learned a lot about myself mentally and I feel like I got mentally stronger".

Asked after the England match if a lack of games at Chelsea has held him back, Loftus-Cheek replied: "Yeah, definitely. There are no guarantees but I have a better chance of playing, so being at Palace gives me the platform to learn and develop".

"It seemed as if there has been loads of pull-outs but actually, it's been really tight and without getting too carried away, I thought the performance was a really encouraging one".

"He's an exciting player - we've got a few exciting players".

The England goalkeeping position has been long-debated and Southgate clearly has a big call to make after he handed a debut to Jordan Pickford and the Everton keeper showed why he is rated so highly. If we had won then it would have been better but the other games come thick and fast. He was really happy for me and just said go and enjoy it.
