Hulu Video Streaming App for Nintendo Switch Will Release Soon on eShop

Hulu Video Streaming App for Nintendo Switch Will Release Soon on eShop

Hulu is the first USA streaming-video service to hit Nintendo Switch, which has sold 2.6 million units in the States in the first nine months of its release. Nintendo's previous console, the Wii U, had access to Netflix, Hulu and Youtube, and Nintendo's biggest competitors, the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, also have several video streaming services. Where it gets hard, is that Hulu itself requires a US-registered IP address and subscription to actually make use of.

Nintendo Switch owners can download the Hulu app for their console directly from the Nintendo eShop. No word yet on when Nintendo fans from Europe and other regions can start streaming on their Switches.

Unless Nintendo and Hulu struck an exclusive deal, it only seems like a matter of time until more streaming services make their way to the Nintendo Switch.

The core service is available for $7.99 a month while the Hulu Live TV plan is available for $39.99 a month. With Hulu following Japan's NicoNico service, this could all be about to change as the console begins to expand its ecosystem to include other on-demand services.

US Tightens Restrictions On Cuba Travel, Business & Trade

Perhaps we'll see the arrival of Netflix and Amazon Prime Video in the coming months, followed by more on-demand apps? As such, it's not now known whether this version of the app will feature Hulu TV support or a custom interface designed for the Nintendo Switch. And that will continue to be our focus into the future as we continue driving this platform.

For a long time, Nintendo has been the joke among the arsenal of console gaming and entertainment.

When Nintendo provided information for eShop updates for the Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo Switch on November 9, 2017, an important milestone was announced.
