Koenigsegg sets new production auto speed record at 447 km/h

Part of that speed verification is in video form below. The result was a new world record two-way average of 277.9mph.

This very same vehicle was stretched to its Earth-scorching limits by factory test driver Niklas Lilja on Saturday, along an 11-mile (17.7 km) piece of public highway near Las Vegas on Saturday that had been shut down by Nevada authorities for the attempt. The above video shows just that and features Koenigsegg factory driver Niklas Lilja hitting almost 300 miles per hour. For now the Agera RS holds the world production speed record.

Last month, Bugatti set an acceleration and deceleration record, taking the Chiron hypercar from a dead stop to 248.5 miles per hour (400 km/h) then back to a stop again in a mind-bending 42.

Roman Abramovich's right-hand man Michael Emenalo quits Chelsea
Arguably owner Roman Abramovich's most trusted lieutenant, Emenalo has often been viewed as a controversial figure at the club. He has had a tremendous impact on the club over the past 10 years and this is evident in everything we have achieved.

Koenigsegg's factory test driver Niklas Lija drove Agera RS with its 1,144bhp, 5.0-litre turbo V8 to set the new record. Since this was a world record attempt, the speed was verified by a third-party company called Racelogic. It managed the feat in 37.28 seconds, 26.88 seconds of which were used to reach the top speed of 400 km/h (249 mph).

Sure, the V10 Italian exotic may only have half the power of an Agera RS with the Megawatt engine, but the Sant'Agata Bolognese machine has something that the Swede is missing, namely a naturally aspirated heart.

Hennessey is claiming its new Venom F5 may be able to break 300 miles per hour. Responsible for sending the power to the pavement was reportedly a set of Michelin Pilot Sport Cup2 tires - the standard tire for the Agera - which seemed to survive the high-speed stint without a hitch.
