A 52-year-old woman has been charged with unsafe driving after her Toyota Kluger smashed into a primary school classroom, killing two boys and injuring 20 others.

A further seven children were injured in the incident at Banksia Road Public School, with five children hospitalised.

The driver, who did not require medical treatment, was taken to hospital for mandatory blood and urine tests.

Seventeen children and a female teacher were assessed on the ground by paramedics.

An uncle of one of the students at the school said it was a tragedy to see what had happened.

Her lawyer has told the Daily Telegraph she was "deeply sorry for the loss and hurt suffered by the children, the school, the families and the community".

Student Remas Shebhavalvem, 9, who is in Year 4, was visibly upset when she came out of the school. "The whole car's inside the classroom".

The woman, who screamed "help, I'm sorry" after the crash has been charged with two counts of risky driving occasioning death and suspended her licence. She could have applied the accelerator while intending to brake, one eyewitness suggested. One distressed mother said she hadn't heard from her child and feared the worst.
