Broncos to name Osweiler starting QB

The Denver Broncos made a change at quarterback on Wednesday following another loss, naming Brock Osweiler as the starter over Trevor Siemian for Sunday's road game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Broncos have yet to officially announce the switch.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Tuesday that Denver would likely go with second-year quarterback Paxton Lynch as the starter in the event of a change under center.

He started seven games in the 2015 season when Manning was injured, going 5-2 before being benched at halftime of the regular-season finale. The Eagles are flying high right now at 7-1 and the Broncos are desperate; Brock Osweiler desperate.

The Denver Broncos' All-Pro cornerback is having another season that could earn him All-Pro consideration again.

"It came down to what's best for our football team, and quite frankly, what's best for Trevor's future", Joseph said, via Troy Renck of Denver7. The then fourth-year quarterback threw for 1,589 yards, eight touchdowns and three interceptions during the six games in which he was the only Broncos quarterback to attempt a pass. He had 20 other plays that were really, really good.

Denver selected Lynch with the No. 26 overall pick in the first round of the 2016 National Football League draft out of Memphis, and he made two starts as a rookie. Instead, Osweiler bolted to Houston in free agency for $37 million in guarantees and Siemian won the Broncos job instead. After all, Lynch is still recovering from a shoulder injury he suffered during preseason. "You have to go touch the hot stove and you learn real quick how nice that stove is when it's not hot". Clearly, this increased pressure has played some part in his performance over the last five games.

Siemian's regression paved the way for Osweiler to step into the starting role, and it'll be interesting to see how this all plays out from here. "When you've lost three games in a row and you've had the turnovers like we've had them. that's not good". Guys work too hard along with coaches and players to have a big game and give it away five times. "I think it's fair to examine that position and all positions".
