How to Use a GameCube Controller With Nintendo Switch

The folks at GameXplain (via Kotaku) noticed the sudden GameCube controller compatibility, which allows for the GameCube controller adapter that was issued for the Wii U to work on the Switch. Nintendo may simply be working on an entirely new installment of the franchise and need the GameCube controller to help test it out.

It's a neat little feature, albeit one that requires Switch owners to use a USB adapter to wire up the GameCube gamepad to the Switch. For example, on Monday, Twitter user Master Mewking discovered that following the update, the Switch now has full support for GameCube controllers. That can be plugged into the Switch dock, the controllers can be paired through the settings menu by pressing the L and R buttons. Users are able to control simple Switch games with a GameCube controller - and can navigate the system's menus via the retro device - but its clear that modern titles were not designed with this functionality in mind. Well, there's always the "oops" possibility. Now it has been discovered that the update also enables GameCube controllers to be used with the console/handheld hybrid.

However, it's hard to imagine that such an oddly specific error would occur.

Police confirmed they are working with the consulate to obtain adoption records and other documents. Her attorney, Kent Starr, told reporters she was "distraught" over the Sherin's death.

"It was just a small game at first, since we wanted to get something out before the Wii U ended, but it kind of got out of hand, with too many ideas", Newey continues.

The Nintendo Switch is a unique handheld and as such, it was only natural for unique accessories to arrive to market for the console. Some, for instance, are speculating that this might mean the impending release of a new Smash Bros. game.
