Barca Bullshit Weekly: Coutinho to Leave in January

The report does not mention whether £120m matches Liverpool's price tag of Coutinho, or whether they will entertain offer near that figure.

"The Coutinho-Barcelona link will not go away", he explained.

Former Liverpool defender Dominic Matteo believes Philippe Coutinho is a level above his club teammates and would easily fit in at FC Barcelona or Real Madrid.

"We are financially prepared to sign Coutinho or any other player in January", Barcelona Chief Executive Officer Oscar Grau said at a press conference on Wednesday.

"We are ready to buy Coutinho in the winter market or any player the technical staff request", Grau said.

It's hardly surprising that Barcelona's interest in Coutinho hasn't wavered.

El Mundo Deportivo now report Barca are "still in regular contact" with the 25-year-old, who has scored three goals for Jurgen Klopp's men this season.

However, the player finally agreed to play in the Champions League for Liverpool during the first part of the season with after they promised to negotiate his exit in January.

"I don't think it's going to happen in January, I don't think they've got intention of making it in January", Balague told Sky Sports, per the Express.

Last week, Mundo Deportivo reported that Barcelona hoped Liverpool will soften their stance with the club hopeful of complete a deal for the same €80m (£71.6m, $94.5m) plus €30m in add-ons package which the Merseysiders rejected in the summer.

The transfer saga dominated the headlines throughout the summer after Coutinho handed in a transfer request and the Spanish giants bid £118m.

Coutinho has since found the back of the net in his next two games against Russian side Spartak Moscow and promoted side Newcastle United.
