Belgium's Roberto Martinez: 'No communication with Jose Mourinho over Fellaini'

Belgium's Roberto Martinez: 'No communication with Jose Mourinho over Fellaini'

Mourinho struggled to hide his irritation with Belgium last month when midfielder Marouane Fellaini played against Greece despite picking up a calf problem before the game and subsequently missed United's 2-2 draw at Stoke, a game the Portuguese described as a "match for Fellaini".

Belgium coach Roberto Martinez has declared Romelu Lukaku "100 percent fit" to face Cyprus in their final World Cup qualifier on Tuesday.

Fellaini proved his worth to Manchester United before the worldwide break by scoring twice during their 4-0 victory over Crystal Palace at Old Trafford.

Fellaini has been in fine form for United in recent weeks, scoring four goals in his last five appearances for the club.

Speaking ahead of tonight's qualifier against Cyprus, Martinez said: "Marouane, it has been confirmed that he has got ligament damage".

ESPN suspends Jemele Hill after tweets about National Football League player protests
The tweet was in response to Jones saying his players would respect the flag , and if they didn't, they wouldn't play. The headline-generating punishment has already sparked some serious Twitter backlash .

Now he has returned, United's medical staff will ascertain the extent of the damage and how long he will be sidelined.

The Red Devils won an epic worldwide match 4-3 but having already qualified, Jose Mourinho can say with some accuracy that his player should not have been involved. I also hope that none of my team-mates has physical problems in the second game with the national teams as it was the case with Marouane Fellaini, to whom I wish a speedy recovery.

Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini is set to miss their Premier League clash against Liverpool after picking up a knee injury playing for Belgium.

"He is still a very young player but he has coped easily with the expectations and whatever Man United put on him".

Record signing Paul Pogba is a long-term absentee after picking up a hamstring injury against Basel in the Champions League last month and Michael Carrick, who has played just once this season, is also a major doubt for the Liverpool match.
