Dove thought this ad celebrated 'the beauty of diversity'

The Dove debacle comes months after German skincare company Nivea came under fire for its "White is Purity" deodorant ad.

After make-up artist Naomi Leann Blake first shared the now viral photo to which the company took to their social media to apologize.

The ad shows a black woman removing her top and transforming into a white woman. A third image showed the white woman removing her shirt and an Asian-looking woman appearing in her place, according to NBC.

PERSONAL CARE BRAND Dove has issued an apology for a Facebook advertising campaign that had been branded "racist".

"An image we recently posted on Facebook missed the mark in representing women of color thoughtfully", the apology read. In May, the brand promoted custom bottles that were meant to celebrate the diversity of body shapes, but became the butt of jokes on Twitter. "We are committed to representing beauty of all ages, ethnicities, shapes and sizes".

Jafari noted that the following the "wrong path" if it thinks it could pressure Iran into negotiating on regional issues. They include sites in Bahrain, Iraq, Oman and Afghanistan.

People have accused the company of whitewashing. "We deeply regret the offense it caused".

"This is gross. You think people of color can just wash away their melanin and become white?"Another Facebook user, Angela Reinders, commented".

"What exactly were yall going for? Your creative director should be fired", Angela Reinders wrote on Facebook. "Will not be buying your products anymore", one woman wrote.

Dove has since removed the ad. In 2011, an ad sparked controversy after it showed three women with different skin tones in front of a wall marked "before and "after".

On Sunday, The Guardian published another statement from Dove regarding the controversy over its latest ad. Those are greatly appreciated, but the Dove ad in question here features a black woman turning into a white woman after using the beauty brand's body wash, and that's a deeply offensive and problematic image.
