Apple admits to Apple Watch LTE problems just before it ships

Apple Inc. acknowledged problems with cellular connectivity in its newest smartwatch, raising questions about the device's most significant feature days before it goes on sale in stores in the USA and other countries. The new Apple Watch, which costs at least $399 for versions with a cellular connection, opened for preorders last Friday and will begin reaching customers September 22. The company says it is investigating a fix for the problem.

The latest watch, which starts at $399, has been hotly anticipated because its cellular connectivity means people can use it without carrying their phone around. In the meantime, I am very grateful that shortly I will be able to get my blood sugar readings on Apple Watch Series 3. As much as this new feature sounds tempting, the users will be disappointed to learn that Series 3 is nowhere near reliable. Year-to-date, AAPL has gained 36.27%, versus a 13.42% rise in the benchmark S&P 500 index during the same period. And she wasn't too impressed with the new watch's battery life, but found the device particularly useful for its fitness tracking functions. But the LTE support is more or less what Apple is using to sell the $400 wearable in the first place, as it ostensibly gives users the ability to make calls, stream music, and generally use the device in a more self-reliant manner.

It became apparent after my first full day using the Apple Watch Series 3 with LTE that something wasn't right. This generally costs $5 to $10 a month. If the cellular connected Series 3 pairs with an iPhone, talk time triples to three hours.

Ars will have its own review of the Apple Watch Series 3 in the coming days.

Reviewers have also criticized a cosmetic change in the Apple Series 3 watch.

No word yet on how soon that fix is coming, and it's not the only black eye Apple is dealing with after rolling out its new software. "The new cellular feature is great for leaving your phone behind during workouts (then taking an Uber back or stopping at Whole Foods for a refueling snack)".
