No floor test in TN Assembly till Sep 20 : Madras High Court

"When asked as to what renovation the civic body is planning on the ground, the officials told us that the stage was undergoing renovation", said Manoharan.

The differences of opinion among AIADMK MLAs were an intra-family dispute and the ruling AIADMK government had sufficient majority in the Assembly, senior party leader and Deputy Assembly Speaker Pollachi V. Jayaraman claimed here on Thursday. The court was hearing a plea by ousted All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam leader TTV Dinakaran's faction, news agency ANI reported. By doing so, Palanisamy may not require to garner the required support of 117 MLAs to win the trust vote, he said. The RK Nagar seat is vacant following the death of then Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa a year ago.

As there was no assurance forthcoming, the judge proceeded to observe that when the Speaker was not in a position to say whether he would pass orders, there was nothing wrong in staying the floor test. "However, if a challenge emerged for AIADMK government, all of those, who won on AIADMK's two leaves symbol, would support the government under Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami", he said.

Saravanan further said that the party wants the present state government to go because they are destroying the state of Tamil Nadu and in these last six months they have done nothing.

The DMK, which has a couple of times petitioned Rao to direct the Palanisamy government to prove its numbers, had moved the court on the matter recently.

Dhinakaran had alleged yesterday that the ruling faction led by Chief Minister K Palaniswami was "intimidating" his loyalists MLAs who were now camping in Karnataka, by sending police after them. "There is no direct or indirect alliance with that party", he asserted.

Vijila Sathyananth, of the Dinakaran faction, told the media in Chennai that the faction would soon hold a general council meet of the party after the consent of their general secretary - VK Sasikala.

He also faulted the Chief Minister for convening the party General Council to remove her as interim general secretary.

"I can go to any extent to save the party", he warned.

"You should question me if only I align with DMK after this government goes", he said.

Dhinakaran had earlier dismissed the September 12 General Council as a "public meeting", saying the court could have the final say on the matter.
